Dogme 95: a manifesto written by four Danes with ten strict rules for filmmaking, like only using hand-held cameras, natural light and sound. The goal? To ensure an extreme degree of sobriety and truthfulness, as a resistance to the contemporary film industry. Nonetheless, it will not be the first time that a group of film bros wanted to “save” the art of film, and it is also questionable to what extent we can really speak of a manifesto. Nevertheless, the Dogme 95 movement has brought incredibly interesting titles to the world that are really worth watching.

For example, with his first Dogme 95 film, director Lars von Trier opens a completely new film platform. With a mix of home video and documentary styles, the film tells the story of a group of young people who have decided to get to know their “inner idiots” in order to face and overcome not only their outer appearance, but also their inner selves.
