It is the day when the whole of Groningen turns orange. Toasting, partying, having a tompouce or scoring a bargain: on Kings Day, there is something for everyone in City. This year, there are many fun activities and parties again. Along the canals, you will find the traditional free market, the Stadspark is full again and the local catering industry is operating at full speed. What will you do on King's Day?
Flea market
Traditionally, a free market will be held on the canals on King's Day. The market will go along Ubbo Emmiussingel, Praediniussingel, Ganzevoortsingel and Coehoornsingel. Dresses, stalls and booths can be set up from 07.00 in the morning. For the little ones, there will be a special children's free market with music and performances. The children's free market will be held on the Westerhaven and will last from 10:00-17:00.

Stadspark will be rigged up for Kingsland again this year. The party attracts many visitors and, more importantly, big-name artists. This year at Kingsland, you can enjoy the likes of: Antoon, Roxy Dekker, Paul Elstak, Snelle and, of course, Groningen pride Kraantje Pappie. Together with many other names, they will make it a true party on various stages in the park.

On the Suikerunie grounds, they will also celebrate Willy's birthday with the band Hello Venray, among others. On King's Day, The Hague-based alternative rock phenomenon Hello Venray will come to EM2. The Monroes will perform as a support act. Afterwards, the party De Republiek will kick off at the EM2. But there will also be a party at the Bamboo Lodge on the Suikerunie grounds. Under the Pans and Palla d'Uovo will throw a party there on King's Day. Expect ten hours of quality italo, disco, house and everything in between. The line-up consists of all locals, and 'eierballen' will be provided by Palla d'Uovo.

After the Vismarkt has already been made unsafe on King's Night, there is also plenty to do on King's Day itself. The day gets off to an active start with a children's disco & Dance Battle. After everyone has finished dancing, Brontsema and Staal take to the stage. These two guys combine kleinkunst with Nederpop and complement this with polyphonic singing. Afterwards, Pjotr can be heard on the Vismarkt in Groningen. Pjotr is well known in the Dutch music scene and with his experience he knows all too well how to build a party. After Pjotr, there will be a number of other artists to admire. With a Tina Turner Tribute, Tik Tok Tammo, Van De Straat and Jammah Tammah Groove Express on stage, there is something for everyone!

Besides the festivities on the Vismarkt and in the Stadspark, Kings Day in Groningen also offers a great opportunity to explore all the great pubs and other catering establishments. For instance, on the square near the Uurwerker and Pintelier there will be a party with DJs, they will organise a 'Cheap Kingsday' in Club OOST, the terraces on the Poeleplein and along the Gedempte Zuiderdiep are sure to be nice and full again, and the Zwanestraat is always a cosy place to celebrate your Koningsdag.
