De Basiliek | Fairy-tale beauty
Appingedam – Restaurant De Basiliek is located in a truly special location: the Sint Nicolaaskerk in Appingedam. Their menu has many delicious options, including a selection of dishes made from homegrown products referred to as ‘Dutch cuisine’. But then: the shrimp from Zoutkamp and ingredients for their ultra-Groningen mustard soup also come from nearby.

Termunten – Until 1948, goods from Ter Apel and Delfzijl and vice versa were transported by railway. Small railway workshops were established along the route for maintenance of the carriages. Two of them have been retained, and one of them – the one in the village of Termunten – has been converted into a fish shop. Be sure to stop over when cruising the Dollard to sample their delicious fish.
