Oldambt
The waving grain that brought Oldambt farmers enormous wealth also incited a communist wave and triggered entrepreneurs to construct giant red-brick factories. Although the flame eventually died down, the fire of the Graanrepubliek did not stop smouldering. Today, there is plenty of sowing, harvesting, malting, baking and distilling. Add the Oldambtmeer Lake and the varied selection of events and voilà: all the boxes for a visit are checked.
