Eurosonic Noorderslag music event

In churches, schools, halls and pubs throughout the city: for four days in January, the city will be all about celebrating music. With over 40,000 visitors every year and a line-up of over 350 bands from 31 European countries, Eurosonic Noorderslag is the best place to discover new music.

For years on end this music festival has opened the pop music season in January. This is when international visitors and agencies come to Groningen to do their networking and discover new talents. Come and see bands perform that will outline the programmes for the summer festivals and hear the music that will be played on the radio. The festival features small-scale concerts of tomorrow’s mega stars. Eurosonic Noorderslag is a stepping-stone for the most promising music acts from the Netherlands and other countries.

Paid and free concerts will be given day and night in over thirty halls throughout Groningen city centre. The last day of the festival will be all about Noorderslag, which since 1986 has functioned as the indicator for Dutch pop music. One of the highlights of this closing night is the annual presentation of the Popprijs award.
