From dishwasher to 30-year-old owner

Starting out as a dishwasher in the kitchen of hotel-restaurant De Boegschroef in Delfzijl 15 years ago, today Jos Bosma can call himself the proud owner of said venue. He always dreamed about being his own boss and making his own decisions. "It’s clear that you have to become an entrepreneur to reach this goal. I had the opportunity to start at a relatively young age and I really couldn’t imagine doing things differently."

Bright future

Starting his career in the construction trade and telecom business, in 2020 Jos was asked whether he would be interested in taking over the hotel. This ticked several of his boxes, and today he runs his very own hotel and restaurant in the port of Delfzijl. Because the Eemshaven is to become a region for energy transition, many business guests find their way to the hotel. He has plenty of plans for the future, such as installing air conditioning, adding five new rooms and perhaps taking over the café a bit further on.
