MuzeeAquarium | Four museums under one single roof
Delfzijl – The MuzeeAquarium in Delfzijl features no fewer than four museums and a sea aquarium, all under one roof. This contemporary museum is a lovely introduction to the history of Delfzijl. Learn about shipping and the northernmost megalithic grave in the Netherlands. A sea aquarium is housed in an original ammunition bunker from WWII. This is where you can see sharks, rays and other animals from the North Sea.

Termunten – The Bezoekerscentrum Dollard visitors centre is located in a former farm next to the dyke. It’s the best starting point for your explorations of the Dollard scenic area. Watch a film about the area before you climb right to the top of the building for some birdwatching. From this location, you’ll walk to the seal viewing wall and Batterij Fiemel in a few minutes. Activities for young and old are regularly scheduled.

Various locations – Wonderful locations for children to play outdoors dot the Eemsdelta. In Godlinze, kids can live it up on the outdoor amenities at Speeltuinvereniging Knoll’n toen. The park behind Ekenstein manor near Appingedam features a petting zoo and playground. And the Wilhelminapark in Delfzijl has a wonderful playground AND a petting zoo too! As you can see, there are plenty of options to play all day!
Miniature golf | Playing golf on a historic estate
Appingedam – The friendly Camping Ekenstein campsite is located on the outskirts of the Ekenstein rural estate. From the campsite, enter the manor grounds, or hop on board a canoe to explore the Damsterdiep canal. The campsite also has plenty to offer for a fun day out! The 18-hole miniature golf course is great for several hours of active entertainment.

Delfzijl – From the Delfzijl centre, walk right to the town’s beach for a lovely dip in the Eems river. Afterwards, chill out on the sand and build yourself a sandcastle – or even the Eemshotel.
